About Me

Hi, my name is Edwin! I am a PTR Level 1 Certified Tennis Instructor with experience coaching children ages 6-11 and adults 18+. I work part-time for the Chicago District Tennis Association (USTA/Midwest Section) where I am a lead coach for their Tennis 101 programs and Cardio Tennis classes.

When I am not playing tennis, I am playing pickleball. For me, tennis and pickleball go hand in hand with many of the fundamentals for tennis directly translating to pickleball. I began playing pickleball in 2020, and play competitively at the 4.0 level. I am an educator at heart, having spent six years in academia where I honed my skills in curriculum building, lesson planning, advising, time-management, and communication. These are skills that I now apply on both the tennis and pickleball court! My goal is to provide effective pickleball lessons to people of all age groups, while also contributing to the next generation of coaching. And a fun fact about me is that I am from the same county as Ben Johns, the most decorated pickleball player of all time.

Teaching Style

I specialize in technical development and fitness training tailored for tennis and pickleball. I like to provide clear and structured instructions while demonstrating drills and providing useful feedback. Every lesson includes a warm-up and fun, competitive games to teach pickleball concepts while improving skills and building athleticism. I believe that every player is unique and has their own goals, and I make sure to create an environment tailored to meet each player's expectations.
